Stein Eriksen was born on December 11, 1927, in Oslo and died on December 27, 2015, Park City, Utah, USA.

He was a former alpine ski racer and Olympic gold medalist from Norway.

Stein Eriksen was the son of Marius Eriksen and Birgit Heien.

He was the top slalom racer in Norway in 1949 and took bronze in the slalom at the 1950 World Championships in Aspen, Colorado.

He won the gold medal in the giant slalom at the 1952 Winter Olympics, which were held in Oslo, Norway and the Holmenkollen Medal.

Stein was the first male alpine ski racer from outside the Alps to win an Olympic gold medal, and he won three gold medals at the 1954 World Championships in Åre, Sweden.

He moved to the Utah after 1952 games.

After a Stein racing career, he was a ski school director and ambassador at various resorts in the United States.

He worked at places such as Boyne Mountain in Michigan, Sugarbush in Vermont, Heavenly Valley in California, Snowmass and Aspen in Colorado, and Deer Valley Park City in Utah.

His wife was Françoise, they had five children: Julianna Eriksen, Ava, Stein Jr., Anja, and Bjørn.

Stein Eriksen passed away at 88 yrs old.
