Slamet Effendy Yusuf, Indonesian cleric, Died at 67

Slamet Effendy Yusuf was born on January 12, 1948, in Purwokerto, and died on December 2, 2015.

He was an Indonesian cleric.

He had served as the head of the NU, the largest Muslim organization in the country, from 2010-2015.

Yusuf also served as the head of the Indonesian Ullema Council (MUI) for 2009-2014 period.

Be before he joined the NU and MUI, he worked as the Speaker of the People’s Consultative Council (MPR) for 1988-1993 period.

Yusuf was also a Golkar lawmaker in the House of Representatives (DPR) for several periods since 1992.

Slamet was the Honorary Chairman of the Board of the House of Representatives (2004-2007).

Slamet Effendy Yusuf passed away at 67 yrs old.
