Sir Anthony Barnes “Tony” Atkinson September 4, 1944, and died on January 1, 2017.

He was a British economist.

He was a Senior Research Fellow of Nuffield College, Oxford and Centennial Professor at the London School of Economics.

Sir Atkinson student of James Meade, Atkinson virtually single-handedly established the modern British field of inequality and poverty studies.

Sir Tony Atkinson worked on inequality and poverty for over four decades.

He was married to Judith Mandeville, whom he met at Cambridge.

Together they couple had three children.

Sir Tony Atkinson passed away at 73 years old.
