Sipke van der Land was born in 1937, in Kollum, and died on November 22, 2015.

He was a Dutch preacher, writer, teacher and television presenter.

His family lived in Wassenaar.

Sipke studied theology and Dutch.

In the early 60’s, Van der Land worked as a Dutch teacher and religion on the Christian Lyceum Visser ‘t Hooft.

Sipke has published dozens of children’s books, religious books, anthologies of poetry and books on art.

Van der Land debuted with the children I have a knife in year 1966.

Sipke also wrote monographs on artists such as Karel Arkema and Roeland Koning.

During his time as a teacher Van der Land also provided tutoring to Büch.

Sipke is considered the discoverer of pianist Jan Vayne and was also the discoverer and mentor of writer Hans Sahar.

Sipke van der Land passed away at 78 yrs old in a hospice in his home town of Wassenaar.
