Shunichiro Okano was born on August 28, 1931, and died on February 2, 2017.

He was a Japanese football player and manager.

He coached the national football team from 1961 to 1971, becoming the head coach for the 1970-1971 season.

Okano served as the president of the Japan Football Association, from 1998 to 2002.

He was a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) from 1990 to 2012, becoming an honorary member in 2012.

He died due to lung cancer at a Tokyo hospital.

Shunichiro Okano passed away at 85 years old.
