Seán Ardagh, Irish politician, Died at 68

Seán Ardagh was born on November 25, 1947 and died on May 17, 2016.

He was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician.

Sean served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin South-Central constituency from 1997 to 2011.

He was a Chartered Accountant by profession, Ardagh was first elected to Dáil Éireann at the 1997 general election and retained his seat at the 2002 and 2007 general elections.

Seán Ardagh took Ben Briscoe as the TD and main candidate for Fianna Fáil in Dublin South-Central in 2002.

Seán Ardagh was appointed as the Chairman of a number of Dáil committees.

In 1985, Ardagh was elected in Dublin County Council and remained a member until 1999.

Ardagh was elected to Dublin City Council in 1999 and remained a councillor until 2003.

He went on to received his Chartered Accountancy in Canada in the 1970s and return to Ireland to practice.

Sean announced on December 9, 2010, he would not be standing at the 2011 general election.

He resigned as a TD on January 28, 2011, in advance of the 2011 general election.

Senator Catherine Ardagh, was his daughter.

Seán Ardagh passed away at 68 yrs old.
