Ryszard Janusz Bender was born on February 16, 1932, and died on February 24, 2016.
He was a Polish politician and historian.
He was a specialist in the history of the January Uprising.
Bender was a professor of History at John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.
Ryszard was a deputy of the Sejm, in 1976–1980 and 1985–1989.
He was a senator, in 1991–1993 and 2005–2007.
Ryszard was elected from the list of the Law and Justice party, in 2007.
Mr.Bender was accused of antisemitism and Holocaust denial after he said that Auschwitz was “not a death camp” but a “labour camp”.
Ryszard later said his remarks were taken out of context.
Ryszard Bender has also spoken out in defense of Dariusz Ratajczak.
Ryszard Bender passed away 84 yrs old.
