Roy Señeres was born on July 6, 1947, and died on February 8, 2016.
He was a Filipino businessman and diplomat.
Roy was expected to run in the 2016 Philippine presidential election under the Partido ng Manggagawa at Magsasaka party.
He was elected as a member of the Philippine House of Representatives representing the OFW Family Club party-list in the 2013 general elections.
Roy was the father of the former congressman Christian Señeres.
He chaired the National Labor Relations Commission of the Department of Labor and Employment from 2002 to 2005.
During the 2013 elections, Roy was the winner of a seat in the Philippine House of Representatives as a representative of the OFW Family Club party-list.
Minister Señeres declared his plan to run for the presidency on October 20, 2014, in Butuan.
Roy Señeres repeated his declaration a year later during a briefing at the House of Representatives.
He had formally launched his presidential bid on October 11, 2015, at the Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila.
Roy started his campaign through the Partido ng Manggagawa at Magsasaka.
His proposal was the subject of jokes during a meeting in the Philippine House of Representatives, as it was viewed as a stunt by his fellow congressmen who couldn’t believe he was running.
Reportedly, they said that minister Señeres needs to run a serious nationwide campaign to have a chance of winning the presidency.
Señeres has declared his hope that he would not be declared a “nuisance candidate” by the Comelec.
Señeres was open to the opportunity that Rodrigo Duterte would be his substitute candidate if Duterte became a pro-life advocate.
Nevertheless, Roy Señeres later refused to substitute for him and slammed Duterte’s decision to pursue the presidency.
Roy said that Duterte should support and endorse him instead.
Roy Señeres passed away at 68 yrs old.
