English socialist folk singer Roy Bailey was born on October 20, 1935, and died on November 20, 2018.

He started his melodic profession in a skiffle band in 1958 and later joined people supergroup the Three City Four including Leon Rosselson, as a trade for Martin Carthy.

Colin Irwin from the music magazine Mojo said Bailey spoke to “the plain soul of people’s average worker’s beliefs… a triumphal praise to the grassroots people seen as an extreme option in contrast to the standard music industry.”

Roy Bailey first solo collection was discharged in 1971.

He was an Emeritus Professor of Social Studies at Sheffield Hallam University.

Bailey was additionally the benefactor of Towersey Village Festival, Shepley Spring Festival and the Music on the Marr Festival situated in the town of Castle Carrock, Cumbria.

Bailey was the dad-in-law of Martin Simpson, an artist, and guitarist, whose spouse Kit is Bailey’s girl.

Having battled with heart disappointment for more than 30 years, he died in St Luke’s Hospice, Sheffield.

Roy Bailey died at 83 years old.
