Rostislav Shilo died on April 27, 2016

He was the Director of The Novosibirsk Zoo.

The Novosibirsk Zoo is a world-renowned scientific foundation and a popular tourist attraction.

The zoo contains over four thousand animals and takes part in around thirty-two different captive breeding programmes for endangered species.

There is an average of around 700,000 visitors each year at the zoo.

The Zoo is best known for its Lions, namely black-maned lions that appeared to be the closest surviving relatives of the extinct Cape lion of South Africa.

In November 2012, Novosibirsk also received international attention upon the birth of Kiara, a rare liliger cub.

Rostislav Shilo passed away at 75 yrs old.
