Rokusuke Ei was born on April 10, 1933, and died on July 7, 2016.

He was a Japanese lyricist, composer, author, essayist and TV personality of Chinese descent.

He has written the lyrics to the song “Ue o Muite Arukō”, known internationally as “Sukiyaki”, which has been used in several English language films.

Rokusuke Ei has also written the lyrics to the song “Miagete Goran Yoru no Hoshi o” sung by Kyu Sakamoto in 1963.

Rokusuke Ei was a graduate of Waseda University.

Rokusuke Ei passed away at 83 years old.
