Robin Kay, New Zealand painter and historian, Died at 97

Robin Langford Kay was born on June 23, 1919, and died on April 7, 2017.

He was a New Zealand artist and historian.

He was educated in Napier and at Christ’s College in Christchurch, before working as a cadet journalist in Palmerston North.

In World War II Kay served as a war artist with the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force in the Middle East and Italy, was commissioned as a temporary second lieutenant in 1944, and later joined the war history staff under Major General Sir Howard Kippenberger.

Kay graduated from Victoria University College with a Bachelor of Art degree in 1949.

Robin Kay passed away at 97 years old.
