Retired Rear Admiral Roberta L. Hazard was born on November 8, 1934, and died on March 25, 2017.

He was the third female line officer to be promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral in the United States Navy, and at the time, the highest-ranking woman in the U.S. military.

Hardard was the first woman to command a United States Naval Training Command.

He was a native of Boston, Massachusetts and a Boston College graduate, taught history at the senior high school level prior to entering the United States Navy in 1960.

Rear Admiral Hazard died in Michigan, on March 25, 2017, where she had been living for many years.

Roberta L. Hazard passed away at 92 years old.
