Reg Boorman, New Zealand politician, Died at 80

Reginald George “Reg” Boorman was born on February 6, 1935, and died on October 30, 2016.

He was a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party.

He served in the Malayan Emergency in 1957 with the New Zealand Army.

Reg Boorman’s first marriage was to Carol McAlpine. His second marriage (in the 1980s) was to Pauline Moran.

Boorman had four sons

Reg Boorman won the Wairarapa electorate in 1984, when he defeated Ben Couch.

After the 1987 election, he was defeated by Wyatt Creech after an appeal to the Electoral Court.

In the 1987 eletions, Boorman won by a mere 11 votes, but this was reduced to one vote following a full recount.

He was survived by his second wife.

Reg died at home in Whakatane.

Reg Boorman passed away at 80 years old.
