Harold Raymond Mould, born on December 8, 1940 and died September 13, 2015.

Raymond was a British businessman who with Patrick Vaughan formed three successful property businesses.

He was also a successful racehorse owner.

Raymond is best known for his work at the helm of Arlington, Pillar and London & Stamford and along with his long-term business partner Patrick Vaughan has long been viewed as one of the shrewdest readers of the UK property market cycles of recent times.

Raymond started his career as a solicitor specialising in tax who found himself often working for clients involved in property.

In 1976, alongside friend and business partner Patrick Vaughan, Raymond decided to move into commercial property development co-founding leading business parks specialist Arlington.

He was a director of British Aerospace, which bought Arlington in 1989, from 1991 to 1992.

Raymond then helped to establish retail park giant Pillar in 1991, overseeing its move to listing in 1994.

He was its chairman until 2005 when the group was bought by British Land for £811m.

In 2006 Raymond and Vaughan co-founded London & Stamford Investments on the basis that the property markets were due a sharp correction which would create opportunity.

The group proceeded to pick up a range of trophy assets in the most recent downturn perhaps most notably a 50% JV stake in Sheffield’s Meadowhall shopping centre.

He chaired the group until January 2014 when it merged with former Pillar colleague Andrew Jones’s Metric to create LondonMetric Property.

Raymond  Mould died at age 74 on September 13, 2015.
