Ray Jessel, Love Boat Writer, Died at 85

Dead, Ray Jessel, who had extensive TV credits on “The Love Boat” and “Head of Class,” died July 17 of natural causes at his home in Studio City, Calif. He was 85.
 
Jessel worked as a story editor for 60 episodes of “The Love Boat” between 1977 and 1980 and had a writing credit on 34 episodes during the eight seasons of the series.
 
Jessel was also a writer and executive story consultant on “Head of Class” between 1986 and 1991.
 
He was a writing partner with his wife Cynthia Thompson on several episodes of “The Love Boat” and “Head of the Class.”
