Ralph Koltai

Ralph Koltai was a German-conceived, naturalized British stage creator, who filled in as partner architect of the Royal Shakespeare Company, and recently as a stone worker.

Koltai was conceived in 1924, in Berlin, Germany, and moved to England in 1939.

Koltai worked for British Intelligence at the Nuremberg Trials and adjust learned at the Central School of Art and Design.

Koltai showed up as a “castaway” on the BBC Radio program Desert Island Disks on 23 August 1998.

In 2010 Koltai’s metal montage figures were shown at the Royal National Theater.

Koltai was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1983 and was perceived as a Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) by the Royal Society of Arts.

National Life Stories directed an oral history talk with (C1173/01) with Hudson in 2002-2003 for its An Oral History of Theater Design gathering held by the British Library.

Koltai additionally partook in Rambert’s 90th commemoration oral history venture, discussing his work for move.

Ralph Koltai passed away at 94 years old.
