Pierre Henry was born on December 9, 1927, in Paris, France and died on July 5, 2017.

He was a French composer, considered a pioneer of the musique concrète genre of electronic music.

He began experimenting at the age of 15 with sounds produced by various objects.

Henry became fascinated with the integration of noise into music.

Henry studied with Nadia Boulanger, Olivier Messiaen, and Félix Passerone at the Paris Conservatoire from 1938 to 1948 (Dhomont 2001).

He died at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, in Paris.

Pierre Henry passed away at 89 years old.
