Phyllis A. Kravitch was born on August 23, 1920, in Savannah, Georgia and died on June 15, 2017.

She was a Senior Circuit Judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Atlanta, Georgia.

Phyllis was one of four daughters of Aaron Kravitch, an attorney, and Ella B. Wiseman.

Phyllis A. Kravitch attended Armstrong Junior College (Savannah, Georgia), receiving an A.A. (1939).

Later, Kravitch obtained her B.A. from Goucher College in 1941.

Kravitch graduated with a LL.B. from University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1943, her father Aaron’s alma mater (Law 1917).

During her time University of Pennsylvania she served on the Law Review Board of Editors.

Phyllis A. Kravitch was in private practice from 1944 to 1976 and then served from 1977 to 1979 as a judge on the Superior Court of the Eastern Judicial Circuit of Georgia.

She died at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

Phyllis A. Kravitch passed away at 96 years old.
