Peter James George was on September 12, 1941, in Toronto, Ontario, and died on April 27, 2017.

He was a Canadian economist and university administrator.

On June 30, 2010, Peter retired after working three five year terms as President and Vice-Chancellor of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.

His first wife was Gwendolyn Scharf, who died of cancer in 1997.

During 1998, George married Allison Barrett, and in 2008 they adopted a daughter from China.

He died following an illness.

Peter George passed away at 75 years old.
