He was an American investor, philanthropist, and billionaire.

He came from a Jewish family.

He was the son of Dorothy (née Levine) and businessman-philanthropist Harold Alfond.

Harold Alfond was the founder of the Dexter Shoe Company in 1958 and sold it in 1995 for $433 million of Berkshire Hathaway stock.

After his father died in 2007, he left his shares in Berkshire Hathaway to his four children, Ted, Susan, Bill, and Peter, making them billionaires.

Karen Benson was his wife, with whom he had four children: Rebekah, Kyle, Sarah, and Deborah.

Peter died due to complications from malaria, which he had contracted on a trip to Africa.

Peter Alfond passed away at 65 years old.
