Robert Deodaat Emile “Ootje” Oxenaar was born on October 7, 1929 and died on June 13, 2017.

He was a Dutch graphic artist.

He studied visual arts at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague starting in 1947.

In 1966 uptil 1985 OOtje worked for the Nederlandsche Bank, where he designed two series of well known banknotes.

Oxenaar was the Director of Art and Design, Post and Telecommunications of The Netherlands.

He taught at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in the graphic design department.

He was married to Dawn Barrett, designer and president of Massachusetts College of Art and Design.

They had two children.

Ootje Oxenaar passed away at 87 years old.
