Nika Rurua

Georgian politician Nikoloz Rurua was born on March 17, 1968, and died on December 4, 2018.

Rurua was a member of the Cabinet of Georgia in the capacity of Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia, from December 10, 2008 until 25 October 2012.

Previously, he had served as the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Defence and Security of the Parliament of Georgia.

After his graduation from Georgia State University in 2001 received the degree of Juris Doctor (J.D).

After he when back to Georgia, Nika begins work for GEPLAC (Georgian-European Policy and Legal Advice Centre), where he headed the project on harmonizing Georgian commercial legislation with that of European Union, and founded the daily-newspaper 24 Hours (24 Saati), where took up a job of legal observer and editor of the newspaper’s weekly addition The Law.

During 2003 Rurua published The Law of Freedom, a collection of essays and articles.

On December 4, 2018, he was found dead of suspected cardiac reasons in his Tbilisi apartment

Nika Rurua passed away 50 years old.
