Neeltje Jannetje “Nel” Karelse was born on January 25, 1926, and passed away October 20, 2015.

Karelse was a Dutch track-and-field athlete.

She competed in 1948 Summer Olympics in the 200 m and long jump and finished in fifth place in the latter event.

Karelse died at age 89 in October 2015.
