New Zealand broadcaster and politician Neil Collins died on November 18, 2018.

Neil Cornelius Adrian Collins was a radio host in the southern city of Dunedin for more than 50 years, beginning as a 17-year-old with station 4XD.

He joined the NZBC in 1972 working at 4ZB as advancements and exposure chief and on-air moderator until leaving to lead the setup of Radio Dunedin in 1990, where he stayed until retirement in October 2015.

Collins composed a standard stimulation section for Dunedin daily paper the Evening Star amid the 1960s and 1970s, and amid the late 1980s and mid 1990s he additionally composed a normal segment for the Otago Daily Times daily paper.

He was awarded the Queens Service Medal for services to the community in 1990 and was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to broadcasting, local-body affairs and the community in the 2009 New Years Honours.

Neil Collins passed away after an illness at 77 years old.
