Nathanael Montgomery Orr was born on October 8, 1917, and died on April 16, 2016.
He was an Australian politician.
Orr was a Liberal member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1976 to 1984.
His parents were John and Margaret Orr in Parkes.
Nathanael Orr left school at the age of thirteen to work on his father’s property during the Great Depression.
Nathanael Orr qualified as a motor mechanic and was also accredited as a lay preacher with the Presbyterian and later the Uniting Church.
Orr volunteered as a mechanic for the armed forces, in 1941, serving in north Queensland and the Torres Strait until the end of World War II in 1945.
Mary Patricia Whitnell became his wife on August 1, 1946, with whom he had four children.
He became a member of the Liberal Party on its formation in 1945 and was the president of the Parkes branch from 1946 to 1973.
Orr was president of the Dubbo Electoral Conference (1950–1975), president of the Western Regional Conference (1950–1974) and a member of the State Executive (1950–1974).
During 1976, Orr was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Council, where he served until 1984.
Nathanael Orr passed away at 98 yrs old.
