Nancy Charton, South African Anglican priest, Died at 95

The Reverend Professor Nancy Charton Ph.D was born in 1920, and died in November 2015.

She was the first woman to be ordained priest in the Anglican Church of Southern Africa.

Nancy was a lecturer and later associate professor in the Department of Politics at Rhodes University.

She was also a deacon at St Bartholomew’s Church, Grahamstown.

In September 1992 Nancy was ordained priest by David Russell in the Grahamstown Cathedral.

Nancy passed away at age 95 in November 2015.
