Nalinidhar Bhattacharya was born on December 4, 1921, and died on September 2, 2016.

He was an Indian poet and literary critic from Assam.

Nalinidhar Bhattacharya was regarded as one of the important poets of the Jayanti era in Assamese literature.

He was the elder brother of writer Birendra Kumar Bhattacharya, who was the youngest Sahitya Academy award winner and also the recipient of the Jnanpith Award.

He started his career as a teacher in Kakojan High School, Bhattacharya was lecturer at St. Anthony’s College, Shillong from 1960 to 1963.

Nalinidhar Bhattacharya also served as lecturer in Arya Vidyapeeth College of Guwahati and retired from the same college in 1983.

His many publications bear testimony to the fact that his forte lies in poetry and literary essays.

Bhattacharya published works include Serasalir Malita, Noni Asane Gharat, Mohot Aitaijya, etc.

Bhattacharya has penned five anthologies of Assamese poems — Aei Kuwolite (1979), Charshalir Malita (1983), Aahot Xapon (1983), Noni Asone Ghorot and Biday Phulor Din (2002).

Nalinidhar Bhattacharya passed away at 94 years old.
