Nachum “Nakhche” Heiman was born on May 6, 1934, in Riga and died on August 17, 2016.

He was an Israeli songwriter and composer.

He has written hundreds of songs, they have become classics and part of the history of Israeli folk music.

At just five years old, his grandfather, Menachem Mendel Heiman, the captain of an icebreaker in the North Sea, smuggled the family by ship from Riga to Gothenburg, Sweden. From there, they reached South Africa.

He won the 2008–2009 Israel Prize for a Hebrew song.

Nachum founded the “Hebrew song Heritage association” and served as its artistic director until his retirement in 2011

Heiman the father of Israeli rock singer Si Heiman.

He died in hospital, in Kfar Saba, Israel.

Nachum Heiman passed away at 82 years old.
