Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Indian politician, Died at 79


Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was born on January 21, 1936, in Bijbehara and died on January 7, 2016, in Delhi.
He was an Indian politician.
He was a politician from the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had completed his basic studies in Srinagar and then he received the law and post graduate degree in Arabic from Aligarh Muslim University before joining politics.
Mufti had served twice as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir; for three years from November 2002 till November 2005 and then again from March 2015 until his death in January 2016.
Sayeed was also Home Minister of India from December 1989 to November 1990.
The minister founded the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party, in July 1999 to “persuade the Government of India to initiate an unconditional dialogue with Kashmiris for resolution of the Kashmir problem.”
Mufti left behind his wife, three daughters and a son
Mufti Mohammad Sayeed passed away at 79 yrs old due to multiple organ failure.
