Mohammad Daud Sultanzoy was born in 1952, and passed away on October 22, 2015.

Mohammad was an Afghan politician who was elected to represent Ghazni Province in Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of its National Legislature, in 2005.

He was a Pashtun from the Ghilzai tribe. He was fluent in English, and prior to his election, he was a pilot for United Airlines.

Mohammad was noteworthy for working to get out the women’s vote.

Mohammad was born in 1952 in Kabul. He went on to graduate with a BS from Kabul University in 1973, having studied Engineering Management.

He then went on to train as a pilot at the Pan American World Airways Training Center and the McDonnell-Douglas Corporation Training Center.

Mohammad holds an aircraft Airline Transport Pilot license and is certified to fly more than 8 different aircraft.

Mohammad fought against the Soviet Union and the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan in the early 1980s during the Soviet–Afghan War.

After receiving a war injury he returned to the United States where he became a pilot for United Airlines.

He remained an active participant in Afghan political and civil societies during the 1980s and 1990s.

Mohammad returned to Afghanistan following the US led invasion in 2001, and was elected as a member of the 2002 loya jirga.

He was later elected as a member of the Wolesi Jirga for Ghazni province in the 2005 parliamentary election.

During his term he served as the Chairman of the Committee for National Economy, Rural Development, Agriculture and NGOs.

Mohammad also took part in numerous Presidential delegations to countries such as Germany, France, Pakistan and India.

More recently, he hosted a TV show on the Afghan channel TOLO TV.

He stood as a candidate in the 2014 Afghan presidential election.

Mohammad was assassinated by Talibans on October 22, 2015 while on his way to the provincial capital of Ghazni.
