Michael “Mike” Ilitch Sr. was born on July 20, 1929, and died on February 10, 2017.

He was an American entrepreneur, founder, and owner of the international fast food franchise Little Caesars Pizza.

Mike owned the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League and Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball.

He was at the center of Detroit’s downtown redevelopment efforts; Mike purchased and renovated the Fox Theatre and relocated his business headquarters (Ilitch Holdings) there.

Ilitch also owned Olympia Entertainment.

Ilitch was a first generation American of Macedonian descent.

Mike was married to Marian Bayoff Ilitch.

Mike Ilitch passed away at 87 years old.
