Michel Déon was born on August 4, 1919, and died on December 28, 2016.

He was a French novelist and literary columnist.

He published over 50 works and was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Prix Interallié for his 1970 novel, Les Poneys sauvages (The Wild Ponies).

His 1973 novel Un taxi mauve received the Grand Prix du roman de l’Académie française.

Deon’s novels have been translated into numerous languages.

Michel Déon was considered to have been one of the most innovative French writers of the 20th century.

During 1978, he was elected to the Académie française.

He died due to a pulmonary embolism.

Michel Déon passed away at 97 years old.
