Michael Mantenuto, American actor, Died at 35

Michael Mantenuto was born on May 13, 1981, in Holliston, Massachusetts and died on April 24, 2017.

He was an American actor, ice hockey player and military officer.

He was best known for his performance as Jack O’Callahan in the 2004 biopic Miracle.

Mantenuto was an alumnus of the University of Maine, where he played ice hockey.

Mantenuto’s time playing hockey alloted him the opportunity to audition and ultimately win the role of O’Callahan, a player on the 1980 Olympic men’s ice hockey team, who beat the Soviet team in what is now referred to as the Miracle On Ice.

He didn’t actively pursue an acting career, appearing in only two other films, including the Matthew McConaughey feature Surfer, Dude.

Mantenuto ultimately enlisted in the United States Military.

He was found dead in Des Moines, Washington.

Which was later revealed he had committed suicide by gunshot.

Mantenuto was survived by his wife and two children.
