Merritone Blake, Jamaican music producer and sound system engineer, Died at 75

Merritone Blake was born on November 19, 1940, in Morant Bay, Jamaica, and died on February 28, 2016.

He was also called Winston Merritone Blake.

He was a Jamaican music producer, legendary deejay and sound system engineer.

He began his career playing in clubs and various street parties.

He then entered a variety of talent shows and concerts; he made many appearances as a deejay.

Mr. Blake was the owner of the Merritone Sound System, which was very well known on the island of Jamaica.

He was also a vocalist/deejay, whom can be heard on a variety of recordings which includes his debut song, ‘Cambodia’ then ‘Especially For You’ was recorded later.

He took part in various entertainment events such as the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival in New York on Sunday July 22, 2012

In 1995, Mr. Merritone Blake was awarded the Order of Distinction by the Jamaican Government.

He left behind his brothers Trevor and Monty (Tyrone died in 2012), children and grandchildren.

Merritone Blake passed away at 75 yrs old.
