Merab Ilyich Chigoev was born on February 15, 1950, in Leningor district, South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast, Georgian SSR, Soviet Union and died on January 9, 2016.
He was a South Ossetian politician and former Prime Minister.
from August 1998 until June 2001, he was the prime minister.
Merab was also Minister of Justice in Yury Morozov’s cabinet.
He graduated from the Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1973.
At 2009 parliamentary election, Merab Chigoev was a candidate for the Communist Party of South Ossetia.
He stood at number 8 on the list, and as the party received enough votes for 8 seats, Merab Chigoev was entitled to a seat in the Parliament of South Ossetia.
Merab Chigoev passed away at 65 yrs old.
