Memo Morales, Venezuelan singer, Died at 79

Guillermo Enrique Morales Portillo was born on April 6, 1937, and died on January 1, 2017.

He was a Venezuelan singer.

He was better known as Memo Morales.

Morales was also dubbed as El Gitano Maracucho.

He was the main voice of many important orchestras of the country, as were the Luis Alfonzo Larrain and Billo’s Caracas Boys popular dance bands.

While at the Galician Brotherhood on January 1, 2017, at a New Year’s Eve concert in Caracas at 2:30 am, while on stage, Morales suffered a heart attack.

Even though he had vital signs in the ambulance, he stopped breathing while being transported to the hospital and was declared dead. Hours earlier, he gave his last full concert in the Military Circle hall in Caracas.

Memo Morales passed away at 79 years old.
