Marcel Renaud was born on May 27, 1926, and died on December 5, 2016.

He was a French sprint and slalom canoeist.

Marcel Renaud competed in the 1940s and the 1950s.

Competing in two Summer Olympics, Marcel Renaud won a silver medal in the C-2 10000 m event at Melbourne in 1956.

He also won a bronze medal in the K-4 1000 m at the 1954 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships at Mâcon.

In canoe slalom, Marcel Renaud won a gold medal in the C-1 team event at the 1949 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in Geneva.

His uncle Marcel finished fourth in the 4000 m team pursuit cycling event at Paris in 1924.

His sons went on to win Olympic canoeing medals of their own.

Marcel Renaud’s oldest son, Eric, won a bronze in the C-2 1000 m event at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles while his youngest son, Philippe, won a bronze in the C-2 500 m at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.

Marcel Renaud passed at 90 years old.
