Marcel Barbeau was born on February 18, 1925, in Montreal, Quebec and died on January 2, 2016.

He was a Canadian artist.

Barbeau studied with Paul-Émile Borduas.

Barbeau completed his pieces called ‘Foret vierge’ in 1948, which is now in a private collection.

Marcel was made an Officer of the Order of Canada, in 1995.

Mr. Barbeau is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.

Marcel Barbeau was made an Officer of the National Order of Quebec in 2015.

Marcel Barbeau left his children when they were very young, and they grew up separated in foster care.

Barbeau son is schizophrenic and his daughter Manon Barbeau and granddaughter Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette are both noted filmmakers.

Marcel Barbeau passed away at 90 yrs old.
