Manuel Oltra was born on February 8, 1922, in Valencia, Spain, and died on September 25, 2015, in Barcelona, Spain.

He was a Spanish composer.

Manuel received his musical studies at the age of 14 with professor Josep Font Sabaté, and continuing them intensively.

Oltra was known for composing music about harmony and counterpoint music.

Oltra led the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu from 1959 until the company changed in 1987.

He was awarded the 1994 National Music Prize of Catalonia.

Manuel Oltra passed away at 93 yrs old due to pneumonia.
