Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini was born on October 7, 1929, in Bologna and died on July 11, 2017, in Bologna.

He was an Italian organist, harpsichordist, musicologist and composer.

Tagliavini conducted studies in music classes organ, piano and composition with Riccardo Nielsen to Conservatory of Bologna and Paris Conservatory (in the class of Marcel Dupré).

He had graduated to attented the University of Padova in 1951 with a dissertation on the texts of the sacred cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach, taught complementary organ at the Conservatory of Bologna (where he also held the position librarian) and later at the Monteverdi Conservatory of Bolzano, first as a lecturer and later as professor of organ.

Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini passed away at 87 years old.
