Lucian Balan was born on June 25, 1959, and died on November 12, 2015 by drug overdose.

He was a Romanian football player and coach, winner of the European Cup in 1986 and the European Supercup in 1987, both with Steaua Bucureşti and former coach at a football school in Baia Mare.

Lucian made one appearance for the Romanian national football team in 1987.

Lucian committed suicide on November 12, 2015.

He was age 56.
