American basketball coach Lou Cvijanovich died in November 2018.

He was the young men’s b-ball mentor for Santa Clara High School in Oxnard, California from 1958 to 1999.

Coach Lou Cvijanovich’s 829 wins are the most by a secondary school ball mentor in California history.

Notwithstanding his 829 triumphs, Cvijanovich drove the Santa Clara program to three California state titles (1989, 1990 and 1999), 15 CIF Southern Section titles, the second most elevated aggregate in state history, and 30 alliance titles, the most ever.

He was accepted into the California High School Sports Hall of Fame in 1999, the California Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1998, the National High School Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Ventura County Athletic Hall of Fame.

During 1996, Santa Clara High School renamed its exercise room “Cvijanovich Gymnasium.”

Notwithstanding his time as the b-ball mentor at Santa Clara, he was the head football mentor for a long time and the head baseball mentor for a long time.

Lou Cvijanovich posted 104 wins in football, winning a couple of CIF titles and seven alliance crowns.

During his time as the baseball mentor, Cvijanovich guided the Saints to a 114– 30– 2 record, one CIF title, and five group titles.

Lou Cvijanovich is the main mentor in California prep history to win CIF titles in football, b-ball, and baseball.

College of California, Santa Barbara’s head mentor Bob Williams was cited in 2004 saying: “Mentor Cvijanovich has implied such a great amount to b-ball in the province of California, yet more than that he has been an incredible instructor and a colossal good example for youngsters.

Lou Cvijanovich passed away at 92 years old.
