Lois Ramsey, Australian actress, Died at 93

Lois June Ramsey/née Dickson was born on June 18, 1922, and died on January 2016.

She was an Australian actress.

She was best known for her performances as eccentric old ladies on television.

Her many roles include Homicide, The Sullivans, A Country Practice, Home and Away and Blue Heelers and the film Crackerjack.

Lois was a significant cast member of the 1970s soap opera The Box as tea lady Mrs. Hopkins.

Ramsey also performed twice in Prisoner—as dotty social worker Agnes Forster in 1980 and a more prominent role in 1985 as Ettie Parslow, an aged inmate who thought that the Second World War was still going on.

Lois Ramsey has starred in guest roles in Blue Heelers and she played “Gwen” in CrackerJack and “Gran” in BoyTown, both films by comedian Mick Molloy.

Lois won the AFI Award for Best Performance, in 2000 by an Actress in a Guest Role in a Television Drama Series for a performance in the television series Grass Roots.

Lois Ramsey married Cuthbert Ward Ramsey on September 25, 1943.

The pair had two children: Stephen Ramsey, a writer/director and the late actress Penny Ramsey.

Lois Ramsey passed away at 93 yrs old.
