Leonard Burke Sand was born on May 24, 1928, and died on December 3, 2016.

He was an American federal judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Judge Sand was born and raised in the Bronx.

Leonard B. Sand received a B.S. from the New York University School of Commerce (now the New York University Stern School of Business) in 1947 and an LL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1951, where he was Note Editor for the Harvard Law Review.

He served as a United States Naval Reserve Ensign from 1951-1953.

Leonard B. Sand passed away at 88 years old.
