Leo Keith Thorsness was born on February 14, 1932, and died on May 2, 2017.

He was a colonel in the United States Air Force.

Thorsness received the Medal of Honor for his actions in the Vietnam War.

Thorsness was given the medal for an air engagement on April 19, 1967.

Thorsness was shot down two weeks later and spent six years in captivity in North Vietnam as a prisoner of war.

When he completed his military service, he served one term in the Washington State Senate.

Leo K. Thorsness passed away at 85 years old.
