Leilani Marietta Muir/ Leilani Marie Scorah was born on July 14, 1944, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and died on March 15, 2016, in Devon, Alberta, Canada.

She was a Canadian human rights activist.

She was the first person to successful file a lawsuit against the Alberta government for wrongful sterilization under the Sexual Sterilization Act of Alberta.

Her particular and rear case led to the initiation of several other class action suits against the province for wrongful sterilization.

Her advocacy had shed light on eugenics, institutionalization, human rights for persons with a disability, and self-advocacy.

She had been married a few times but was never long term due to the fact that she could not have kids.

Muir later received compensation from the lawsuit for her legal fees and suffering.

Leilani Muir passed away at 72 yrs old.
