Lance Naik Hanumanthappa, Indian army soldier, Died at 33

Lance Naik Hanumanthappa Koppad was born on June 1, 1983, in Dharwad district of Karnataka and died on February 11, 2016.

He was a survivor of the February 2016 Siachen Glacier Avalanche on Indian Army post which claimed around ten lives.

Lance Naik Hanumanthappa Koppad was found during the post-disaster Avalanche rescue operations by the Indian Army, six days after the disaster.

Lance was rescued from 35 feet beneath the snow in -45°Celsius temperature, six days after an Avalanche hit an Indian Army post in Siachen, at an altitude of 19,600 feet.

Lance Naik Hanumanthappa Koppad health was critical but survival news gave a chance to family members to celebrate his news of survival.

Lance family’s and the country’s celebration was short-lived as he died at the army hospital due to multiple organ failures.

The Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who reached Hubli airport to receive the body of Siachen braveheart Lance Nayak Hanamanthappa Koppad, announced a relief of Rs. 25 lakh to his next of kin.

“We are giving 25 lakh as compensation, two acres of wet land or four acres of dry land and job to one minor of the family,” Siddaramaiah told the media.

However, he Karnataka government had arranged a plane to fly the body of Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad from Delhi to Dharwad along with his family members.

Lance Naik Hanumanthappa Koppad passed away at 33 yrs old.
