Ku Chin-shui, Taiwanese decathlete, Died at 56

Ku Chin-shui was born on January 15, 1960, and died on May 21, 2016.

He was an aboriginal Taiwanese decathlete.

There was an explosion on board a landed Uni Air plane on August 24, 1999, injuring 28 people and killed Ku Jing-chi the older brother of Ku Chin-shui.

There was a report from the Aviation Safety Council (ASC) said a motorbike battery jostled, igniting gasoline in bottles in an overhead compartment. Prosecutors accused Ku Chin-shui of asking his nephew to bring gasoline on the flight.

Ku Chin-shui was convicted and sentenced to ten years in prison.

When he had appeal, it was shortened to seven and a half years.

Following a 5th retrial, Ku was declared not guilty.

However, the ASC had commissioned an analysis from the Chungshan Institute of Science and Technology, which said the ASC’s simulation environment differed from that of the aircraft which had exploded.

Ku Chin-shui passed away at 56 yrs old.
