Khurram Zaki, Pakistani rights activist, Died at 40

Syed Khurram Zaki was born on March 26, 1976, and died on May 7, 2016.

He was a Pakistani journalist and human rights activist.

Zaki received his education in Karachi, where he attended FAST-NUCES between 1998-2001 enrolled in the Bachelor of Computer Science programme.

He practiced Shiite, he was known for his opposition to Sunni religious extremism and banned terrorist organisations such as TTP, ASWJ and LeJ.

Khurram Zaki eating dinner at a restaurant in Sector-11B of North Karachi, was fatally shot by unknown assailants riding on two motorcycles.

Zaki was killed along with two others – journalist Rao Khalid and bystander Aslam – were critically wounded in the attack.

Reportedly, “Four unknown men riding two motorcycles opened fire with 9mm pistols at a hotel in North Karachi, killing Khurram Zaki of civil society and critically injuring Khalid Rao,” says The Nation.

Khurram Zaki passed away at 40 yrs old.
